Looking for a challenge? The Stanwich Club in Greenwich more than fits the bill. Trees line all 18 fairways on the long and tight course, while the lightning-fast greens feature severe slopes and numerous bunkers that swallow up misguided approach shots. A series of lakes and streams also come into play on eight holes. The ninth, a long par 5, requires a carry over rough and five bunkers, while the 13th is the signature hole. It plays over a creek, then a lake, to a slightly elevated, L-shaped green built around a deep bunker. The putting surface is built up from the front and then falls away in its left-rear sector.
